Handicap betting includes two main categories: the Asian Handicap and the European Handicap. These markets adjust a team’s starting score to create more balanced betting options.
The Asian Handicap offers two outcomes only: Team 1 or Team 2.
There is no Draw option, but depending on the handicap, you may receive a full or partial stake refund, creating more flexible betting scenarios.
Asian Handicaps may use whole numbers (e.g., 0, ±1.0), half numbers (±0.5), or quarter numbers (±0.25, ±0.75).
Asian Handicaps are available in sports like football (goals, corners, cards) and basketball, where they help balance uneven odds.
Popular Asian Handicap Types
Handicap 0
Your team must win.
Draw = stake returned.
Example: Chelsea vs West Ham
Bet 100 CZK on Chelsea 0.0:
Chelsea wins → bet wins
Draw → stake returned
Chelsea loses → bet loses
Handicap +0.25 / -0.25
+0.25 gives partial protection:
Win → full win
Draw → half stake returned, half stake wins
Lose → bet loses
–0.25 has the opposite effect:
Win → full win
Draw → lose half stake, half returned
Lose → bet loses
Example: Monaco vs Lyon
Monaco –0.25, 100 CZK → Draw = lose 50 CZK, return 50 CZK
Lyon +0.25, 100 CZK → Draw = win 50 CZK, return 50 CZK
Handicap ±0.5
+0.5 wins with either a win or draw
–0.5 must win the match
Handicap +0.75 / -0.75
A mixed quarter handicap:
+0.75
Win or draw → win
Lose by 1 → lose half stake
Lose by 2+ → lose full stake
–0.75
Win by 2+ → win
Win by exactly 1 → half win
Draw or loss → lose
Handicap
+1
Win or draw → win
Lose by 1 → stake returned
Lose by 2+ → lose
–1
Win by 2+ → win
Win by exactly 1 → stake returned
Draw or lose → lose
Handicap +1.25 / +1.5 / +1.75
General rules:
+1.25 → lose by 1 = half returned, half wins
+1.50 → lose by 1 = win
+1.75 → lose by 1 = win, lose by 2 = half lose
And the reverse applies to negative values.
