Soccer (Football) is played between two teams of eleven players, aiming to score more goals than the opponent. The main objective is to move the ball into the opposing team’s goal while defending your own.
Field Layout
Played on a rectangular grass field with goals at each end.
The field includes a midfield line, penalty areas, and a center circle for kickoffs.
Gameplay Basics
Starting Play: The match begins with a kickoff from the center circle. Teams pass, dribble, and shoot to advance the ball toward the opponent’s goal.
Scoring: A goal is scored when the entire ball crosses the goal line between the posts and under the crossbar.
Defense: Teams regain possession through tackling, intercepting, or forcing errors, while the goalkeeper protects the goal.
Fouls and Free Kicks: Players must avoid fouls such as tripping, pushing, or handballs. Infractions result in free kicks, penalties, or cards.
Timing: Matches are played in two 45-minute halves, plus added stoppage time. If tied in knockout games, extra time or penalties may follow.
Winning: The team with the most goals at the end of the match wins.
Soccer blends endurance, skill, and tactics, making it the world’s most popular sport.
